Not the same?

I purchased, Stevie Ray Vaughan- The Essentials & The Real Deal Vol.2 Greatest Hits, both are from Epic.
Spinning the song, Voodoo Child(Slight return), mixed by the same person from what I read.
The Essentials version seems to have better mid-range whereas The Real Deal seems more bassy. I get high on the Essentials and it sounds fantastic. Whereas the Real Deal does not grab my attention.

What gives, why do I climax on the one cd and not the other, when the songs are the same?

Perhaps they were mixed at different times.  I've heard many CDs remastered and have been shocked by what has been done.  A friend of mine brought 3 versions of a Led Zep song.  The first was one of the originals and while you could hear things like tape hiss it sounded like a real band.  By the time the 3rd version played, they cleaned up the vocals but the whole timing and pace of the song was destroyed.

Sorry my mistake, :duh: even though both albums say Voodoo Child(Slight Return), they can't be the same recording.

The Real Deal version is 8:00 minutes long and The Essentials version is 11:53 and the better of the two, IMO.

There's a version of the song on the 'Couldn't Stand the Weather' SACD I have.  The time is not listed.
