UPDATE

I had some nasty bass build-up behind the plasma TV so I stole a Monster Bass Trap and a pair of Tri-Traps from the back of the room and stuffed them behind the TV.  What a nice difference that made, especially with the clarity of vocals.

I may replace the Tri-Traps behind the TV with another Monster Bass Trap and return the Tri-Traps to the back.  I also think that I need some 244s across the front wall/ceiling corner.

Never too much bass trapping?!

Cavities behind large equipment like that can absolutely cause issues.  I'd agree with the Monsters being better suited for the front as the Tri's are really designed for corner use.

Placement looks OK.  I'd still like to see things a bit more symmetric up front if possible for best performance.

The CD racks would likely be best in the rear half of the room along the sides.

An amen right there from the peanut gallery.  Your power response into the room will be as it should be and your presentation more balanced.  Think it would be a good idea if you removed your coffee table for serious listening and pulled your speakers out further if possible in keeping with an equilateral triangle with your seat.  Bringing them more closely together could yield benefits in clarity and room synergy, as well.  Don't be concerned about soundstage width without trying it.  How about more pictures and comments if you try this?

Here is the current setup.  The coffee table is gone.  ; )

Now, if you could just get rid of that television.  I'm kidding, I know it's staying.  But, if you have a spare GIK panel, ya might scoot the screen back enough to lay one on its side in front of it.  So, now, or then, how are things sounding?  Looks like you changed speakers.
