Ok i messed up my chime build:(
Somehow i put resistors in the place of capacitors c 500 and c 504.
I blew a fuse twice before i found out the problem.
I also found i pulled out a trace on  u401 It was the ground connection so i just scraped off some of the epoxy and fixed that.
I rechecked every resistor thinking maybe i messed up some installing them in the wrong place.
They were all in the right place.
Some read wrong though.Most of my 330k's read wrong.My multi meter slowly going up in value.
When i pulled them out and rechecked they read 330k perfect.
The only resistor that still read bad was r 101.That read bad even after pulling.
Now all read right in circut except for r442 6.8 k.It reads 4 k in circut.
why?
Why am i getting readings that are off when i install the resistors?No i'm not over heating them.
I'm still blowing fuses.The resistors are 2 watt 330k kiwami's,6.8k takman carbon films 1 watt.
I'm still wondering if the chime manuel has a mistake in it what is the value of c 410?
The pic  on the websight manuel says 47 u.
The manuel says 1000u?
which is right?

Harry,

Sounds to me that you should ask someone locally to look at your work and give advice.  I can tell you that when a resistor is soldered in a PCB with other components installed, the resistor value can change because it connected to other components in the circuit.  It's always best to check a component first, then solder in carefully.  Have someone look at your build or post some pictures and maybe you can get things straight.  Go slowly, double check, etc.   Good luck.

If the resistor is sitting on one leg of a capacitor then that cap has to fully fill for you to read proper resistance with a DMM.

That's why the resistor slowly climbs in value.  Your DMM is feeding current that is filling the local cap.

Not so much for you but for others reading this thread its very important to value every cap and resistor before you solder it to the board?  Why?  Because start up failure is nearly completely eliminated with proper value verification.  Trust but Verify!  It worked for Reagan and nuclear disarmorment,  so I am sure its good for DIY.

I hope to hear success notes soon.  You are doing the right thing checking everything on the board.

ok i need someone to tell me one simple thing is the chime manuel right?
c 410l and c 410r are what value?
In my manuel it calls for 10000 uf 16v caps.
On this sight and another i have found pics that call for 47 uf 450 v parts.
I put 47u's in the 410's.
Might this be the problem?

Well i took a look at the schmatic on this site of the chime.I found i have three caps in the wrong place!
So i guess thats my first place to check.Yes 410 is 10000 uf not 47 as the picture on this site and in the manuel shows.
I'm assumeing the schematic is right and the instructions are right not the picture.
Maybe that was a mockup or a protoptype.
The thing is there is a site out there on the web that says it's not affiliated with hal that shows the exact same thing.47 uf 450 v caps in that spot,c410.maybe there are several circut boards out there?
It does say in this revised version in the manuel.
So maybe with this simple change i might be up and running tonight!
