Hi guys,
I have a SP1.7/9BSST/4BST for my music and home theater set up. Front 2 speakers are B&W 803's.
For music I'm a SqueezeBox to stream my wavs and digital audio to the preamp. I've always used the RCA outputs in bypass mode because the digital output to my SP1.7 have never done it for me music-wise (even at the expense of not being able to use my subwoofer).
So I of course have been curious about DACs and what not. I borrowed my friends Ack DAC (dAck!), plugged the digital output of the SqueezeBox in to the DAC and routed RCA's into my SP1.7.
I was expecting to hear differences that would below me away, but I ended up still giving the edge to the RCA outputs directly from the source (in both bypass mode and regular).
Am I doing something wrong here? Is the Ack DAC just not good enough? I really want to get the BDA-1, but will I just be disappointed as I was using my friends DAC?
