I'm curious, are you going to post pictures of the new Sapphire XL2's?

Thanks,
Joe

Probably won't have pics for quite awhile. The photographer who I want to use is unavailable right now. These pre-preproduction units will all be sold and in good homes by the time he's available.

They look VERY much like the Emerald XLs on the front page of our website, scaled up about 50% in size, and a bit deeper. Different drivers of course.  The XL2 sounds identical to the XL, it is a cosmetic change. How could we improve on perfection  8)

I know this thread will be confusing to some. It started because this is what was just sent out today, in our Email newsletter, the ACI Confidential:

Sapphire XL2

The Sapphire XL is now completely sold out. We have been working on the next generation, the XL2 since 2008. The XL2 retains all the legendary performance attributes of the XL with a sleeker look. To maintain the acoustic advantages of the XL cabinet required extensive internal changes to the enclosure. The XL2 will be available only in the High-End Piano Black finish and price is projected at $2000 pair. We had hoped to have the XL2 ready by the time the XL was sold out, but that hasn?t happened. Production quantities of the XL2 will not be available for many months.

We currently have a very limited number of pre-production XL2s available in Piano Black. These are identical to the production version with one small exception: on these pre-production units, the bass-mid driver projects slightly above the front baffle. We had planned to do this for primarily cosmetic reasons. However, this means that the grill does not fit down flush. For most users this isn?t a concern as they run their Sapphires without grills. Price on these Sapphire XL2s is only $1699 pair, very limited quantity.

They are very similar to the current XL, but I will get the exacts later today and post. I might also try snapping a few pics in my living room, but we'll see if they turn out.

The XL2s are:

14" Deep
12" Tall
8" Wide

No pics tonight. The Packers-Viking game comes on in a little over an hour and it is now officially family football time  :D Go Pack!

The XL2s are identical to the XLs with the exception of cosmetics. Since they were already perfect, there was no way to improve the performance  8)

We are down to ONE pair of the XL2s left available. I bet these will be gone within hours, a day or two at the latest. Last chance to save $300 on a beautiful looking and sounding pair of speakers. And, you avoid waiting at least 3-4 months for next availability. Contact me ASAP if seriously interested.
