John Puccio of Classical Candor Website has just posted a review of his REFERENCE Speaker for his reviews, the VMPS RM40.

Please look here http://classicalcandor.blogspot.com/2009/10/vmps-rm-40-loudspeakers-loudspeaker.html  for the full review.

Below are a few excerts:

"To begin, I had been using FMI (Fulton Musical Industries) Model J's for a very long time before buying the VMPS RM 40s. The fact was, I simply couldn't find anything affordable that I liked better."

"The problems I encountered looking for new speakers you can already guess. Bob Fulton had died years before, so FMI was no longer in business. Everything I listened to that sounded better than my old J's cost considerably more than $5,000. And everything I listened to that cost less than $5,000 sounded awful."

"He introduced me to the RM 40s, which coincidentally and without my telling him in advance closely matched price-wise the $5,000 I had in mind to spend (although the price has since gone up). What I heard from the speakers was a revelation; they were not bright or dull or hard or soft or boomy. I heard only music from them, and I spent the better part of a Saturday morning auditioning them."

The RM40 is now 8 years old and has been updated several times, most recently with the outboard SDE digital crossover and EQ which provides speaker and room correction.

RM40Jr's ($2995pr) with the SDE ($995) will perform at a level significantly above most competitors, and at a reasonable price.  The 40Jr or its more elaborate siblings should be an ideal speaker for many audiophiles.

This review is very realistic portray of how RM40s perform if they are well placed, adjusted and powered. A fact that review reflects impressions after years of listening to these speakers is a huge plus. Great!

He mentions a "floor-firing ten-inch subwoofer". Has the PR been replaced with an active driver since I bought mine in 2005?

That was a non-technical reference to the "slot loaded" Passive Radiator.

Only real change to the PR over the years has been the vitrification process to make the cone stiffer.
