New HiRez Squeezebox Duet coming?
« on: 30 Sep 2009, 12:11 am »
With the announcement of the new Touch supporting HiRez files, I had heard a rumor that a new Duet is not far behind which will also support these files.  Anyone have any news supporting that rumor?  Any ideas when it will be released?

The Squeeze players (SB3, Duet, Transporter) have all supported HiRez, in that they can play 24/48 natively (TP is 24/96 max) and up to 24/192 with SOX downconversion.   Now the Touch has been announced to join the TP to also have 24/96 natively.

The Duet's supposed HiRez (24/96) capability is a rumor, but nothing has been made concrete. It would be a huge product overlap, but oh well.

Would love to see it.  I plan to control it with an ipod touch so the Squeezebox Touch is not necessary, although it would still be cool.  I am not sure the overlap is a problem since the SB3 and Duet have coexisted happily.
