I am trying to run my cable box through my AVA DAC in addition to the CD. I have an Inday switcher and have the CD in one input, the cable box coax cable in another with the switcher connected to the DAC and the DAC thru interconnects to the Ultra pre. The CD works fine, but nothing from the cable. I do have HDMI connecting the cable box to the TV and the cable box has been connected to the pre with interconnects. Maybe the HDMI is cancelling the coax out? Any help out there?

Is the signal on the cable in 16/44 format that the DAC can decode?

Unfortunately, I do not think the digital output of cable boxes or TVs is in normal Redbook format.  It won't work here with my Comcast box or Sony HDTV either.

If anyone can shed more light on this go ahead.

Well you know I'm a plug it in and see what happens type of guy. I had not considered the conversion factor.Thanks for the responses, anyone interested in an Inday switcher w/remote for 75 bucks?

Ya, when I changed cable from Comcast to WOW I saw that digital out on the new cable box and said cool, then I tryed to run it through my T-R DAC and I said shit, thats OK I just run it through the pre amp and that works fine for me.
