Help: Need Advice for New Speakers
« on: 5 Aug 2009, 08:01 pm »
Looking for some advise. I am looking to purchase a new set of speakers, new or used. My budget is $3,000.00. I have owned Legacy Classics for the last 12 years and recently sold them along with some other equipment. I like their sound and thoughts I needed to move in a new direction.

I am only looking for speakers for a dedicated 2 channel system, no HT. I looked at used and new speakers from Salk and Selah. My music taste is mostly jazz, old R&B, and contemporary Christian.

Interested in hearing views from VMPS owners and some advice. I need to purchase something in the next few weeks. Room is 20 x 15, 9 foot ceilings.

Thanks.

You sound like RM30 or RM40jr material. (I think we have one Cherry pair left of the RM40jr.)

Strangely enough I was a Legacy Dealer and Sig III owner just before becoming a VMPS dealer so I can identify with your direction.

The move from the Classic to the RM30 or RM40 will simply allow you to take advantage of the Neopanel Planar and Ribbon's ability to allow you to hear "deeper" into the recording.

What amps are you running?

I have a LSA (formerly DK) Signature integrated amplifier about 180 watts per channel with a Cary 306/200. What's the biggest difference between the RM30 or RM40jr? Will $3K allow me to buy either?

Thanks,
Steve

Here are a pair of RM40's normally $4995 msrp

and

Here are the RM30's

There is (to my knowledge) only a single pair of the RM40jr's still available.  It is the only pair that would get you in for $2999. (plus shipping) and those cabinets are in CHERRY

The RM30 has an msrp from $3500- $3880 plus shipping, but a little "courtesy pricing" could ge you closer to your target.

I can PM you more details on that.
