FS: ADS 200C mini-monitors - SOLD
« on: 24 Jun 2009, 09:08 pm »
For sale are a pair of ADS 200C mini-monitors.  These were made for both indoor and outdoor use.  I'm the original owner and have the original box and wall brackets.  Each speaker has a 1" soft dome tweeter and 4" extra long excursion woofer.  Frequency response is 85-20k hz (-3 db), 55-22k hz (-5 db).  Mates perfectly with a good subwoofer.  Great speakers for a bedroom, workplace, college dorm, or basement system.

I used them as main speakers for my HD TV with a subwoofer.  Since I now have the ACI Emeralds, no longer need them.  They are in very good condition considering their vintage.  One grill is bent on the top and probably can be straighten out carefully with pliers.  Cost new was $200.  You can have them for $45, shipped within the 48 contigious states.  Shipping will be higher for other locations.

I had a pair of these in my hotrod VW BUG way back when I was in grad school. Mated w/ a 100w/ch mosfet amp they sounded incredible. One of the more enjoyable audio experiences I've had. (unfortunately the harsh conditions of being in an auto took its toll on them)

good luck w/ your sale, they should make someone on a budget very happy.

Thanks for the compliment.  I also had a hot-rod VW bug, but only had the factory radio.  Most of the time, I was driving sideways around turns and didn't pay attention to the music so much.

I also owned these back in the late '70s as a portable suitcase system with a Uher portable cassette recorder/player and it sounded great. I later got the Nakamichi/ADS bi-amplified system that was incredible. This speaker punches WAAAAY above its weight!

I had the Braun version of the L-200 back in the late 70's.  As I recall, they sounded pretty good but a little light on the bass.  I'd certainly wouldn't mind having a pair of them again.

Just wanted to alert the crowd that Paul is a great guy and it was a wonderful transaction, a real pleasure to do business with him.  The ADS speakers were in better shape than he described and shipped promptly.  Paul even followed up with several notes to be sure they arrived safely and to see if I was happy.
You betcha!

Question...

Does anyone know for a fact if these have foam or rubber surrounds?
