Monarchy for Songtowers?

Wondering what everyone thinks of the potential fit between the Songtowers and the Monarchy SE-100 Deluxe monoblocks. Heard the SE-100's in another system and was impressed that they could sound at once so liquid and so detailed.

I have not heard the combination personally, but looking at the Monarchy site, it would seem that it would be a very nice combination.  The monoblocks would certainly have enough power to handle the SongTowers quite well.

I hope this helps.

Love my ST's, Jim. They play nice with a wide assortment of electronics, including an Integra receiver I had to borrow while the McCormack stuff was in the shop. Would be curious to put the Monarchys against the DNA-HT5 to see how much difference there is. Any thoughts on cabling? I'm running Signal right now. Thanks again.

I've been a lurker to date and have had my SongTowers for a couple months now.  I use a Squeezebox -> Monarchy Upsampler (96.0Khz) -> Monarchy NM24 DAC/Pre and have been very happy with the Monarchy products.  I was able to replace a separate preamp from my system when I purchased the NM24, but it works fine even for my HT bypass (I found that by setting the volume at exactly 12 noon on the NM24, there are no gain issues to the volume and my HT receiver can runs things from there.  I'm new to the high end audio scene, but I love the detail and musicality I get from the setup above vs. running the Squeezebox out of its analog as I was doing before.  It just sounds more musical to me (and even my wife has mentioned it, so that's a good thing).

Hope that helps.

There are some used SE-160's for sale now on Audiogon. They are the tube hybrids. I own the SE-250's and highly recommend them

I personally really love McCormack's stuff, but I am sure the Monarchy SE-100 Deluxe monoblocks would sound amazing.  Please do let us know what you end up with.

I'm currently driving my SongTowers with a pair of Monarchy SM-70 amps, and am perfectly happy with them, it seems a great match.

Mike,

What veneer do you have on your SongTower?

They are curly maple.  The picture isn't very good - I snapped it with my iPhone.  The STs are really pretty, and I've been very pleased with them.

The SongTower's love warmer sounding components.  I'd say go for it - the combo should leave a big smile on your face!
