TheAudioXchange - Rating System Revisited
« on: 17 Jun 2009, 03:23 pm »
Hello all,

We decided to redo our feedback system and start from scratch. Let's just say, without going into too much philosophical detail, we did not like the original one.

From the beginning, we believed that the rating system should focus on sellers and buyers, in other word users, not the transaction itself and now, we are happy to say - the new way the rating system is set up - this is exactly how it's done!

When logged into MyAccount on our site, you will notice a new area called Ratings Management. From that point, things are very intuitive and self-explanatory. Please click around, as your time permits, and get yourself familiar with the functionality.

Every listing detail page now contains feedback score, a number of cumulative feedbacks left for you by others, a clickable link to view feedbacks, as well as a link to leave a new feedback.

We have managed to maintain association between listings and feedback posts, as well as allow for general feedback posts. The distinction is visible in the ratings tables.

Upon leaving a feedback, the rated will be automatically notified via email and prompted to leave a reciprocal post. The comments are then stored for admins approval after which they are live on the site. For the next 30 days the rater will have the option to modify the rating via "edit" link next to the rating he/she just left. The rated will also have the opportunity to alert site admin if he/she wishes to contest. Please take a look at this important feature and let us know your opinion.

We added another small but useful feature - file attachment. Beside textual description of the selling items, photos and now YouTube videos, you can also attach a file to your listing. It could be a manual, setup instructions, brochure, or anything of value to your customers. Currently, we are supporting common file types such as pdf, word, txt, but could add more if requested. To use it, simply click on the "browse" button found on the same page where you describe your selling items, navigate to the file and upload it to the site. When your listing goes live, the file you chose could be downloaded by site visitors.

Our goal is to make the site better yet, to offer improved features and we hope you will like what we have done so far. As always, we love hearing from you. Please let us know if you have any suggestions or comments.

Thank you very much for your continued support.
