THROW THOSE BRASS PLATES AWAY - Anything to this?
« on: 20 Aug 2009, 06:14 pm »
I was just reading this thread http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=67859.0 about getting rid of the jumper plates. "Suppose you have speakers capable of being bi-wired.  And suppose the manufacturer provided you with big brass jumper plates to connect the binding posts on your speakers when not bi-wired.  THROW THOSE BRASS PLATES AWAY, NOW, and replace them, even with the cheapest wires you can find."

Is this worth doing with our HT2 TL's?

Well, our jumpers are copper and you would most likely be replacing them with copper wire.  I doubt it would make any difference.

I read that same thread the other night.  As a firm believer that speaker wire and interconnect can make a very large difference in sound, I have yet to hear this with jumpers.  I also have never heard a difference bi-wiring.

I also feel the jumpers supplied with the HT2-TLs are of a very nice quality.  They are not gold plated steel plates (which also sound the same) found on cheaper speakers.

That said, every situation is different.  What you need to do is figure it out for yourself and give it a try.

Yes, and much longer more reactive copper too. Keep the jumpers.

I replaced the plates (parts express)  on my rc-5g's with a pair of copper spades and a twisted pair of vampire wire jumpers and thought i heard an improvment but it is all subjective. I like the idea of better jumpers and fr $40 for parts and some time I am happy.
