Speakers for sale for 'locals'..

Howdy!
Some of you might remember me buying in binges before; well it is time to sell...
I've got a pair of Maggie IIb and a pair of Vandersteen 2ci speakers with stands that I'd like to sell to some of you fine folks, if you have an interest.
I'm asking to get $325 out of the Maggies, and $400 for the Vandies.
Both pair are in good shape but I have ENTIRELY too much 'stuff' around here, and my wife has finally called me on it. (I am in *so* much trouble!) :(
They have been here long enough that they probably need breaking in again, and I have nowhere to set them up again, except on a temporary basis.
I also have a Bryston crossover matched to the Vandies, I think crossing over at 100 hz.  This is a hard-wired version of this famed Xover, whereby you have to change resistors (I think) to change the xover point. It is balanced, but I have interconnects made from balanced to single ended and back again for input/outputs.  I'd be asking $450 on that, with the interconnects.
I'm negotiable a bit on these, except I don't want to ship them.  That is why I am advertising here.
If I'm in the wrong placing this here, somebody tell me and I'll make it go away.

Somebody has to need a pair of these fine speakers at bargain prices, and I'm hoping it is someone local.

There will be some amps offered up in the near future.

P/m me any questions and I'll try to answer.

Thanks for looking!
DeadFish

PS Oh yeah, folks new to me, I'm in Illinois over in Collinsville, if you want to know how far you are.

Hey Bill,

Tell me a little more about the Vandies. You mentioned that you've been doing an active XO, does that mean you pulled out the passive crossovers?

Hi Scott, thanks for the interest!

Looks like Scott is getting the Vandies, folks, so they are off the menu.
Now I just have to get them to him!
We'll work somethin' out, Scott.

Hey MerRev,

It sounds like Deadfish is going to be getting rid of his 300b (the humming bastard). Might be something you want to consider for your Lowther OBs. Bet you could talk Bill into bringing it when he brings over the Vandies. That or if I go over and pick them up, we could go together and you could give it a listen.

Hey Bill, didn't Willie pretty well take care of the hum?

signed,
the speaker ho wanna be

DeadFish, which Bryston crossover is yours? I have a bud who loves to triamp, and is looking for an active.
Thanks, Dave

Hola Guys!

Questions to answer!
All-righty!

Mark, you got a P/M response on the Maggies.  For anyone else: I believe these Maggies to be earlier, more primitive than Steve K's but with a lower price.  They sound good and dont need rebuilt, but I believe the socks at least have been replaced.  Biwireable.

Dave,  the crossover is a 10b, but again, you have to jigger with the insides to adjust it, not just twiddle a knob or two.   Not sure if it does 'triamp'; will go up this evening and look.  I have the paperwork that tells you which resistors to wire in for what frequency response, once I find it.

And yes Scott, Willie did some good things for the "Hummin' Bastid" amp.  I must admit, that the christian name of this amp is a "dual mono 300 b" and there is very little hum to it more than any other typical tube amp.  Once the music begins, does one hear it?  Maybe.  Let your ears be the judge.
Also Scott, the boxes for the Vandies are 42" x 19" x 13", so the pair can fit in a back seat. (stands in the trunk!)  If you guys want to come over to pick them up and give a little listen to the 300 b on the Hornshoppe Horns, I'd be glad to entertain if you can live with the chaos around here.  You can even have an enjoyable listen to my Van Alstine Ultimate 70 on them as well.  Well, enjoyable IF you like it...
Just lemme know!
Any more questions, I will try.

Thanks for looking, Fellas!

Thanks for checking everybody, and thanks Scott and Mark for taking these two sets of speakers away where they will be better listened to.
Tune in again later when I'll have more hardware to make 'disappear'.

If you run into transport problems, I can probably swing over and pick up the Vandies in my truck and bring them out to Scott.

Thanks Bryan, you might just come in handy, but is it 'on your way'?

I sure won't talk you out of it; will have to see what Scott's got in his head as well.

Much obliged!

What room of yours would these be going in?

The Vandies are going in the Redrum. I'll drive them with my Radiis and the big Korato dual mono pre. I'll use the Bolder modded SB as a source. Should make a fine sounding system.

I'm going to move the Large Advents up into the Green Room (where Turbo had his speakers last year). I'm going to do a vintage system in that room. I'll drive the Advents with my HH Scott 299 and use the AR ES-1 turntable and maybe even my Akai reel to reel. That should be a fun little system too.

You didn't strain a 'gonad' getting them in the house, did you Scott?

I'm looking forward to hearing them again in a proper setting my own darned self.

Thanks again for finding them a great home!
