Bent Audio Infrared wireless remote actuator with 20K DACT stereo step attenuator
I have used this component in my SAS 10A preamp since September 2005. I replaced the 10A?s standard Noble volume pots with the stereo DACT attenuator and realized a significant improvement in both soundstage depth and convenience.
The Bent remote includes a circuit board, infrared sensor, wall-wart power supply, stepper motor and mounting hardware for the DACT attenuator, and remote control hand unit. The remote device does not generate any noise in the preamp because it does not interface with any part of the preamp circuit and does not generate any RF hash. Bent Audio sells this device for $200, and it is very nice indeed. The Bent Audio website is here:

The DACT CT2 stereo step attenuator is a very high-quality attenuator. I bought it from DIYcable.com in 2005. It cost $225 at that time. This attenuator is a 20k ohm unit, with 2 decks for single-ended stereo. The specs are very tight:
Number of steps 24
Bandwidth (10kOhm): 50 MHz
Channel matching: +/-0.05 dB
Attenuation accuracy: +/-0.05 dB
THD: 0.0001 %
Mechanical life, min. 25,000 cycles
I used this attenuator to make my superb SAS preamp even better than it was with separate Noble volume pots for each channel. I removed it because I replaced the 10A with a Steelhead and wanted to return the 10A to stock condition to sell it. Additional info is at DACT audio attenuators,

This attenuator and remote control cost me $400 in 2005. It works exactly as when new. Nice smooth steps without noise.
