and selling it as a CD transport only as well for those of us with DAC's in our integrateds or preamps???  I am sure I would not be the only person interested.

just a thought!

Hi Jeff,

We have thought about a 'CD Drive' only but have not looked at it in detail yet.  And remember the jitter numbers are generally lower in an all in one player.

How about digital inputs for the BCD-1 for those of us who are CD centric and would like the flexibility of using the Crystal 4398 for a couple other digital sources.

Hi,

To provide a separate digital input on the CD Player you would have to have circuits that would allow you to 'resample' and 'reclock' the digital signal coming in (BDA-1). This would defeat the purpose of an all in one player where you can sequence the 'Drive' to the 'DAC' through a 'Master' clock (placed very close to the DAC) to optimize jitter reduction.

Thanks James.  That makes sense and gives me pause in looking at a couple players that do provide inputs.  I place my emphasis on performance over convenience so this is useful advice.  The Swiss army knife is very handy but it's far from the best knife in the drawer! :D
