FS: Peachtree Decco - SOLD
« on: 27 Apr 2009, 02:40 am »
I bought this used a few weeks ago to try it in an office system, but it is overkill for my office so I am selling it. I am the third owner and I am including the description from the previous owner.

Peachtree Audio Decco hybrid tube integrated amplifier with built-in DAC with multiple inputs (USB, coax, optical). Sonically impressive, and a real bargain for someone willing to live with a few cosmetic flaws.

A great unit for an office system or for getting into computer audio. The tube preamp offers a rich, musical sound. A serious 50 watt per channel amp capably drives even low-efficiency speakers.

Electronically, this Decco works fine. And it comes with a NOS Amperex Bugle Boy 6DJ8 tube with a Herbie’s Tube Damper installed – a really superb sounding tube. Two factory-original backup tubes also provided.

Cosmetically, the case and faceplate are generally in very good shape, but both the right and left front edge of the cabinet were chipped when the original owner removed the case to change the tube. The chipped places have been touched up with black paint, and they blend in well, but they are visible – see the photo (both edges are similar). Initially, the case was very hard to remove because of an overly aggressive gasket at the rear of the cabinet, but on the advice of the folks at Signal Path (the parent company for Peachtree Audio), the gasket has been mostly removed.

Retail on the Decco is $799. The Bugle Boy tube and Herbie’s Tube Damper add almost another $100 in value. So, if you don’t mind the cosmetic flaws, the asking price represents a bargain.

Comes with the remote control, manual, power cord, and spare tubes. I have the original box and I will double-box for shipping.

Asking price $500 + shipping and paypal fees (if used). Checks or money order accepted but will ship after check clears.
US-48 sales only.

personally, I do not think that it is too high. I think that once warm weather hits, all of us run out doors and play and don't take music seriously. I also think that the economy is keeping a lot of people laying low.

Too bad...I heard that unit at RMAF and thought it was outstanding!
