This is a bit unusual for me.  Usually, I just list an item for sale and a price.  But these don't come up for sale very often.  On top of that, the unit in question is not *quite* ready to ship.  I am currently checking our every facet of its operation after repairing a defective Strobe Light.  The Strobe Light is now working perfectly, as is the speed regulation of the table itself.  I have completely rebuilt the 140 Volt supply for the Strobe Light and will also be rebuilding the rest of the Power Unit, before this table will be ready to ship.

I am listing it now because I want to let everyone know that a Technics SP-10 Mk II WILL be available in the next few days.  This sale will consist of the turntable, the Power Unit and the Remote Control (Start/Stop) assembly.  No arm or base is included.

Cosmetically, the unit is in good, but not perfect condition.  (I will be posting a full series of pictures and will give full details about any "issues" that exist before a sale is finalized.)  I will be entertaining "offers" above $500.00.  If you have been looking for a Technics SP-10 Mk II, here is an opportunity to purchase one that has been completely checked out for proper operation.  Not only that, I will offer a 90 day guarantee.  If the unit fails during that period, I will repair it at no charge.  (AND pay for shipping - both ways!)

I am posting this ad now because I would like to see how much interest exists.  This turntable was the "Best of the Breed" when it was introduced and it is still equal to, or better than, turntables costing THOSANDS of Dollars more today.

You may contact me at nostubesforyourdynaco@gmail.com so we can discuss it further.  I look forward to talking with you!

Sincerely,

Bill Thomas

Somehow I'm up to 5 TT myself, so I don't need one. But, I have The Absolute Sound, Volume 1, Number 4 and the SP-10 (not the Mk II yet) was the highest rated turntable, in the Class I category. There were no State of the Art turntables. BTW, it was 419 dollars in 1974.

You must be working hard on it because, surprisingly for you, there are no pics!!!!

Dear Paul,

I had hoped to have some pictures posted by now, but I'm still finishing up the turntable.  Electronically, it's doing great!  the Start/Stop "itchiness" has been solved satisfactorily.  The only thing left is to complete the repairs and adjustments of the mechanical brake band.  It seems that the previous "repair person" at Harris Broadcast Equipment decided to quiet down the noisy solenoid with a TON of heavy grease!  Needless to say, not only did it NOT quiet things down, but instead, it caused a great deal of deterioration to the rubber "bumper" at the end of the solenoid.  In order to clean the plunger and the barrel of the solenoid, it will have to be removed from the frame.  I am also making a new rubber bumper to replace the one that has deteriorated and is no longer available (as far as I can determine.)

It will probably be another day or two before I will be able to post pictures.  When I do, it will be a VERY complete group of pictures, covering the good, the bad and the ugly.  Fortunately, the good FAR outweighs the bad and the ugly!

Sincerely,

Bill Thomas

Howdy, Friends!

Repairs have now been completed on the SP-10 Mk II and the accompanying Power Unit.  Here are some pictures of the turntable and power unit that were taken prior to any major cleaning.  The turntable has been "dusted and wiped down", but that's about it.  The Power Unit has had NO cleaning.

First, here's the classic "View From Above" picture of the turntable:

Here is a picture of the platter with the mat and special screws removed:

Here is a shot of the unit with the platter removed:

Now, here are the areas that have the most "cosmetic issues."  First, here's a picture of the Start/Stop Switch:

Just to make SURE you can see the scratches and dents a bit better, here's a picture of the Start/Stop Switch from a lower angle:

Here's a picture of the Speed Change Switches and LED indicators:

Here's a shot of the Technics logo plate:

And finally, here's a picture of the front of the Power Unit:

The current "price point" for "offers" on this turntable is $1000.00.  I will do some further cleanup on the unit, but these pictures should give you an idea of the overall condition of the turntable and power unit, as they now stand.

Mechanically and electrically, the unit is now operating properly.

Sincerely,

Bill Thomas

Well, it didn't take long!  An offer came by that I simply couldn't refuse.  I have now sold the turntable.  PLEASE don't get too angry with me for calling it quits this quickly.  This unit will be going to a GOOD home where it will be USED!

Thanks to EVERYONE for following along in this MOST interesting project.

Sincerely,

Bill Thomas
