Good cables for n2x
« on: 12 May 2009, 04:51 am »
Hi guys it's me again....expecting my N2X's in ~1 week.  Clearly, very impatient but will probably survive.

Anyway, my current cables are quite old and would probably suck the life out of otherwise nice sound equipment.  Any suggestions for cables for this 2.0 speaker system?  I'm looking for something reasonably budget conscious, but without skimping on end-product sound quality the slightest bit.

Thanks,
Ray

I've always been happy with SignalCable.

My long time favorite has been Kimber Kable.

For speakers, their 4VS and 4TC cables are a true bargain for the performance they offer.  They really open up the sound and don't obscure details or dynamics.

Kimber interconnects are good too but can get expensive.  I prefer Homegrownaudio interconnects.  I've also bought their silver wire in bulk and just braided the cables myself to save money.

I also have made my own ICs from Homegrown from silver and braided.

With my arrays I use MIT ICs with my SS gear

On my Venues the silver DIY top the MITs with my tube gear

I'm using Acoustic Zen Hologram II with my Neo-2x with great success and midrange.

If budget is a real concern I have a great option. I just did a quad run to each speaker with Danny's new solid core speaker hook up wire and added Vampire spades that he stocks. The results are very impressive with great details and solid bass. I am very pleased and didnt break the bank.

I have been doing some beta testing for Electra Cable's new speaker cables and power cables. They are about to launch those now. It looks like four different speaker cables. They are designed to touch performance levels of the cost no object cables out there but do so at affordable levels. Their least expensive speakers cables are $199 for a 6' pair and go up from there.

What I have heard so far is pretty impressive. I plan to stock the whole line.
