Hi everybody.

This is my First Thread topic here.

I just received my DUAL MONO TVC 1 XLR in 2 outputs from Nick a short time ago. I enjoy DIY projects and woodworking and have build an Oak Sandbox Isolation Platform for my Turntable, sand filled speaker stands and am think of a isolation stand(s) for my newly acquired TVCs.

Has anyone experimented with isolation for there TVC? Is it needed? Does it do anything? If so what are you using for isolation? It would be nice to have matching DIY isolation stands but if there is NO benefit I will not build them. Any advice is appreciated.

A friend of mine using the tvc, uses a sandbox. He mentions it works well

If you have cats, I would suggest you carefully rethink the sand box option...

i have the dual mono c-core 1 xlr input 2 xlr output,
the tvc does benefit from some damping,
i stuck damping sheets on the insides of the top and bottom plates.
and purchased the additional ebony footers.
i also plugged the unused output connectors with telos xlr plugs.

thanks for the response. I guess I should put some termination on My unused XLR output. What benefits did you experience with the dampening, do you think sand on the bottom would be just as beneficial?

Rock maple butcher block with mapleshade brass triple points would be my choice.  The TVC also seems to benefit from additional damping on top of it.  I use brass here also.

Well I was thinking sand box on the bottom with spikes and a Thinner sandbox flat on the top, all made out of Oak, I prefer the wood look. Any words to descibe the "benefits"

benefits would be a lower noise floor, blacker background.

if you overdo the damping, you would kill the air.

the sand box would look great and work the same,

the only grief i foresee is everytime you move it,

it will take a few days for the sound to settle down.

Maybe the Sandbox on top would be over doing it and Dampen too Much? Maybe sand would dampen to much in general? Any thoughts or suggestions..

I have used sandboxes and inner tubes under my equipment and much prefer the sound of maple butcherblock.  The sound (this is a generalization because it applies to my amps and CD players as well) is faster with a better decay characteristic.  When I used sand, the note's decayed very rapidly.  After using brass and wood, I heard a much better transient attack and the decay rate was greater.   However, the greatest improvement to the promitheus was the addition of a Black Hole Pad to the bottom, interior and top of the Unit.  Available from speaker city.  I read about that tweak here in AudioCircle.

I looked the Black Hole Pad up on the Net. It seems to me that I could find a similar product for cheaper, Maby some sort of rubber?
Thanks for the tips. I agree to much sand can be a bad thing, I will have to do some more digging on the web.

Anyone else have any tweeks for the TVC for dampening the inside or outside

i used this, i paid about 10usd for a foot square from a local shop.

which i quartered, and stuck to the inside of the plates above and below the transformer.

with the ebony spikes on an ikea butcher block.

If you want a softer sound YES. To date the most affective support system has been brass feet to an Ebony bottom plate. If you are going to keep the stock plate on then dampen plate with BHP and stuff box with raw silk or wool. you may want to try wool [ commercial dampening wool ] under your circuit boards and around trans. Also to support circuit boards from metal enclosure. Works wonders.
