There's a review of the Unifields in the latest issue of Ultra Audio: http://www.ultraaudio.com/equipment/vsa_unifield3.htm

"thrilling and revelatory" according to the reviewer!

I would concur with the reviewers comments.  It takes more effort to find the final resting point for this speaker but once dialed in it is the most three dimensional, transparent, holographic and revealing speaker you'll find at any price.  Slip on any Eva Cassady CD and be prepared to be transported!  Her purity, range and pitch can bring you to tears!! I actually removed a small amt of stuffing on Albert's suggestion several wks ago using a pair of long tongs and the low end wallop results were not subtle as a before and after.  They are a great looking speaker with their covers off exposing the drivers.  Absolutely stunning presence.  I've been using in a 11x17' room and at some point will place them in a much larger room (where my 5's reside).  The 5's offer up the authority and weight of a big brother.  Both fun, fun speakers to enjoy!  At their given price points they have no weakness or peers..  Jack

I wholeheartedly agree with the reviewer as well. The Unifield 3 is amazingly detailed & articulate without ever sounding analytical. Such is the balance and nuance of the speaker. They're also incredibly transparent. I replaced my shotgun attenuators at the inputs to my mono amps with a Placette Remote Volume Control and the result was revelatory. I thought there could be nothing more transparent than a simple passive volume control. Boy, was I ever wrong! With the Placette in place the frequency extension at both extremes greatly improved, pace/rhythm/timing (PRAT) reached a new level and blurring of detail detail across the entire range simply vanished. This simple change made me even more impressed with the Unifield 3: by conveying that level of detail, imaging is astonishingly lifelike and holographic.

Hello all,

Nice piece of work.
I recognize a lot since we have the Unifield III in Holand.
If anyone in Europe likes to look and listen just call or mail.

Regards,

Cor

How would you compare the sound of the unifields to the VR5 Anniversaries?

Last night I removed the dacron stuffing from the bass modules of my Unifield 3's and with all of it removed the bass in my room became boomy and ill defined. (This is with the speakers well away from the walls of a large room.) I experimented with putting different amounts back in and feel satisfied with about 60% of the original stuffing. The lesson learned is YMMV, so it's best to experiment. It is a nice feature of the speakers that they may be easily tuned in this manner.

Also, one thing I forgot to mention is it may be worthwhile to experiment with speaker toe-in after extended break-in. I think mine sound best pointed in toward the sweet spot but that positioning only sounded best after break-in. Prior to break-in the tweeter sounded a bit hard straight-on but later on I experienced the best soundstage and imaging with them set up this way. Based on the reviewer's comments I wonder if he tried this after break-in.

Dear All,

Here are e few pictures about the stand.
The stand is universal and can be used at any height.
The aluminium can be filled with lead to let be 25 kg.
Sounds good and stable.

Cor
