Piccolo questions
« on: 28 Feb 2010, 02:04 am »
I have a piccolo and a cornet 2 which sound great - very pleased. I use batteries to power the piccolo. Whenever the batteries run out of juice it is always the left channel only, right is still powered up. This confuses me every few months until I remember its time to change the batteries.

Can anyone think of a reason it is always the left to go dead first? Should I look into any of the connections or joints?

2nd, is the bugle PS or the wall wart a better way to go with improved sonics?

Thanks,

I think it is random which channel dies first - dependent on the exact Vgs threshold of the JFET pair in the current sinks on the negative supply.  One might be operating at 1.2V and the other at 1.0V, which will stay on slightly longer.
