TEAC PX Turntable 1975 era help????
« on: 17 Mar 2009, 02:18 pm »
Hello,
Anyone know the Tonearm Mass , effective mass of a TEAC PX-300 or PX-500 Tonearm, its an S shaped Tonearm, with a plastic headshell, the table is from 1975-1976, and I was wondering what kind of cartridge would mate well with this arm?  I appreciate any help on this topic.  I dont know any info regarding the Tonearm on this TEAC Turntable.

                                            Thanks, Ray

Most Japanese S-shaped tubular tonearms were in the 12-15gram range.  It should mate okay with all but the lowest and highest compliance cartridges.

Stay between 12 and maybe 25 and you'll do fine.

There is of course the ubiquitous AT440MLa, which seems to universally work okay with any arm for moderately priced decks. Don't know the price range you are looking for, otherwise, other options could be offered  :)
