Large acoustic panels for a homeboy
« on: 23 Feb 2009, 04:04 pm »
OK homies, my wife brought 4 large panels (MityLite Versipanel) home normally used as room dividers or for creating an isolated space in a large venue. While not specifically designed as acoustic panels, they do a great job, so I am keeping one for my own use and "selling" the other three. These are great for creating a free standing acoustic absorbing wall (that's how I am using mine) or you could just put one up against a wall to create a large absorbing panel. You can shape them into a wave so they will act as bass traps as well. They are 7' tall by 9' wide and about 2" thick. These were donated to a shelter where my wife volunteers and they didn't know what to do with them--but I do. These retail for about $900 each and are in great shape--color is a neutral beige. Awesome for a home theater set-up or dedicated listening room. I would like to get $50 a piece for these--money will be donated back to the shelter. Here is a chance to do your system and your heart some good.
Here are some links:

I will deliver them locally (price is a couple beers) or you can pick them up.

I'll take them. I don't neccessarily need them but at that price they are too good a deal to pass up. I'll give you a call.

I don't have anywhere to put them anyway. But that's a heckuva good price!
That's very generous of you to donate back to the shelter Chris.

You snooze you loose.

So you want to go one on one with the protector of the Kitties. You obviously haven't met my Wife.
She teaches shadow boxing, tae bo, has won body building contests and if that is not enough to scare you off she is also an Attorney who owns several large handguns. Please feel free to try your hand, I'd love to post the video on youtube.

:o Ohh yea...... I forgot about her resume.  :surrender: :peek:

:notworthy: Yes Mrs. Electric Bear. :notworthy: My greatest apologies your honor. :notworthy:
:notworthy: My fault, it will never happen again your majesty. :notworthy:

I'd hate to see myself on YouTube getting my ass whooped.
I think it would make the GAS get togethers a little more uncomfortable.

Take care Tim, enjoy the panels (Sir).

Yeah, but the REST of us would pay serious money to see THAT match-up,  although technically it wouldn't be much of a match, I hear.................

Think of it a fundraiser for AC that would keep the site solvent for a VERY long time.  I think it is great that Bob would consider taking one for the team.

Rich - I'm not too worried about "The Papers". As they say. "You can't take nuttin' from nuttin'".
Hell, I'm more worried about getting my ass whooped from Tim's wife. That's the part that would suck.

Bob - So, you think I should volunteer my humility, my manlyhood, and a few body parts for AudioCircle....  :o
Jeez man, this is a tough crowd. This new information combined your comment this week about me having a blow up doll is really testing my fortitude.

I think it's time for a drink.  :wine:

I'll meet you at Hot Shots instead of at work tonight if you want ( and you can get a kitchen pass from the Mrs...  )

Oops!  Sorry - forgot we're not supposed to discuss gathering in non-dedicated threads...  :argue:

Sounds like fun Bryan, but I'm afraid I need to pass on the tavern tonight.
Besides, you getting me drunk two nights in a row might get people talking.
I'll be sitting at my little desk until 6:00pm every night this week if that helps.

Bob, you are a sick, sick man.   :P

Yeah - I was half kidding anyway.  The Mrs. has something slow cooking for tonight anyway.  I'll be over in a bit to drop things off.

Out of curiosity, how good are these type of panels for acoustic treatments?
How would they compare to other materials, like fiberglass or rockwool? Or??

Thanks,
JK

Many thanks to Chris for the panels and for delivering them as well. They are a very nice addition to the room and work well.
I'll keep everyone posted as to a good date for party night at the bears den.
