I have the reference version. There is a DSP tab at the bottom center area of the screen. From that tab, you can select HDCD.
You can't rip a SACD layer directly. You can rip the redbook layer if it exists. You can record from the analog output of a SACD player onto a PC with a hi res soundcard but the SB3 may not be able to play back higher resolution files. Or you could investigate digital recorders.
If you want to playback hi rs files, the Transporter can handle up to 192/24 files. I think the vapor PS Audio units will as well. I have tested both 176/24 and 192/24 flac and wave on the Transporter. The SB3 is more limited and may downsample some hi res files and not play others at all.
Regular CDs will often sound better played from the hard drive than from a CD player. Enlarged pictures taken of commercial CDs show land and pit variability in discs created from the same stamper. The process of PC based ripping seems to be more thorough in getting all the data off the CDs than the servo controls on a CD player. So, assuming your drive is optimally working with EAC or dbPoweramp, you may be surprised with the quality of redbook CDs on the SB3.
