4BSST => M1's
« on: 9 Feb 2009, 12:03 am »
I've had my new(to me) 4BSST for about a week and I want to upgrade my speakers already! I have a chance to pick up a pair of old Mirage M1's...has anyone had this relationship before?

I bought a pair of Mirage M1's in 1988 and they served me faithfully till last summer.  The original
amps I used were 4B's that I had upgraded in 1989 to I guess 4B NRB.  They were always used
in the bridged mode.  In 2001 I upgraded the amps to 7B ST's.

The speakers IMO required a lot of amplifier to bring the music up to stun level.  I always had
a spare tweeter & woofer on hand.  In 20 years I went through a few of each but never had
a problem with the midrange or crossovers.

If the M1's are cheap enough I think you will be happy with the performance.
