The UN-THINKABLE has happened

Just when you thought it was safe :peek: to casually traipse through the VMPS Circle and this happens.

In the steamy, dark, depths, of the Cavernous VMPS factory, during an unrelated expedition to find an unrelated part, the searchers uncovered a find previously thought extinct.

It was thought that these no longer existed in the known world.  A find so astounding as to cause me to break out in a "cold sweat".

(Excuse me while I close the window  :?)

Some will doubt the sincerity of this missive :shake:  but true and factual it is

This discovery could forever change the "listening lives" of a few.

With the potential to "lift" the spirits of any true VMPS'er :weights:

It will have some "jumping for JOY"

:hyper: :bounce:

Some will regret that the time was not right for them, :bawl: but hail the blind luck of others.

And what is this mindboggling find? :o

TWO MORE PAIR of RM40jr!!!!

I hesitate to say it too loud for fear of waking, as in a dream, but shouting it would not provide the degree of exaltation and excitement it may generate, for as fate would have it, the even MORE unthinkable has shown on us and we are faced with the deliciousness that might only be known once in a VMPS lifetime.

I cannot contain this any longer. . .

One pair is a RARE DIBBLE BLACK pair!!!!

While some may scoff at the mere mention of Mr D, knowing of his somewhat tainted history, the sole and redeeming fact remains, He built the BEST RM40 cabinets EVER made, :bawl: but only a few.

They were cut of the same cloth as the LEGENDARY VMPS ELIXIR, the often whispered but seldom heard RM/x.

With Brooklyn Bridge Bracing and GRANITE Like MDF, they are closer to 300# each than 250#

Yes one of the pair in GLOSS BLACK is of the loins of the LEGEND RM/x, and will be made available as of this moment to the first who sends their "pittance" ($2999) to claim the "first dibs" (or is it dibbles :duh:) on such a treasure of sonic performance.

This is not to in any way dismiss the incredible bargain of the second Cherry Pair of the same model, but more to just simply dote on the incredible fortune of two future VMPS owners who will be of the "lucky ones" and call these their own. :green:

It really doesn't get any better than this!!!

First come first served

John,
What makes the 40's a Jr versus a Sr?
Thanks.

A cabinet stock that is not going to be replenished.

The Bud Bailey Cherry and the Dibble Gloss Black are the only ones left of their kind.

ALL other parts, drivers and components are "exactly" the same.

That is why they are such "finds".

That same thing in a stock cabinet is $5000!!! msrp.

Last time B located 3 pair of the dibble blacks, I bought one pair for myself and also got my best friend to buy a pair.

I seriously suggest either the OXO ($450)or the D-OXO ($795) as an upgrade to future proof them.

The other difference between Jr and Sr is that the RM40Jr does not come with the CDWG.

Dang.  Do you know anyone who lives near me that wants a pair of RM30Ms in Bud Baileys spray painted Krylon red with gobs of white plaster?

Sigh.  They probably are not the best fit for my 11x14 room.  Otherwise, he dreams...

"UN-THINKABLE"?

Un-thinkable?  Have the Associated Press's stylebook and the semiliterate dideeboppers at Micro$oft corrupted your writing skills THAT much?

It's 'unthinkable' just as it's 'nonsmoking' and 'unnecessary' and 'antisubmarine' warfare.  Nonword prefixes get attached to and become an integral part of the word they modify and are NOT attached with hyphens.  If one attached nonword prefixes with hyphens, then it'd be 'anti-sub-marine'.  Are you ready for that?

Give 'em hell Jeffery! :peek: _:whip:  Sorry, back to your regulary scheduled VMPS topic.  Gloss black mains would sure look great with my gloss black subs, but alas, I seem to be 3 grand short at the moment.

I'm going to be trying a pair in a 12 x 14 room soon, will report.

John,

I can't wait to hear how they work in that room.  Zheem and I both have RM30M's in rooms about that size and they are nearly overwhelming.   :weights:  I can hardly imagine 40's!

Well it will be like no room you've ever seen (heard) aa

It is my daughter's bedroom and since she doesn't make it home that often, I may as well use it so I can write it off

But I recently acquired 2 CA KingSize bed sets, and will have them on all four walls (yes that's right, leaning against the walls. (probably more in the corners)

Additionally I have LOADs of 6" acoustic tiles that will be going up also.

I will also have my "listening chamber" in addition to all that, so it will resemble a "Padded Cell", and should be a "BLACK Hole" for reflected sound.

I have concerns about the bass, but there is a door I can open to the rear of the room, and I can put a sub outside the room in the hall.

Want to experiment with Push/Pull subs in various spots to see what I can get.

I have all kinds of freaky ideas about placing subs in the closet, the bathroom and the hallway, to see what craziness I get.

Had a HUGE Walk-in Closet once with a doorway on each end.  Had subs at each door "out of phase". it was "sick".  Also had mattresses on the left and right walls of that listening box. (as well as a Box Springs suspended overhead between them)

It was so quiet sitting between those mattresses, that I also used it as a TM (Transcendental Meditation) Room.  I mean in just a few seconds you were deep "in the pool of peace" as Mike Love used to tell me . . .Alpha>Beta>Gamma>Delta or whatever those states of consciousness were.

So the greater point is that this will be a VERY STRANGE Room. :o :o

This where digital equalizers come in, John.

I have RM30Ms in my 13 x 8 x 8 room and, along with acoustic foam, the digital equalizer controls the bass nicely, so of course allowing the mid range particularly to shine.
