Tube ID thread
« on: 15 Sep 2010, 05:15 am »
Always wanted to be able to find some answers or info regarding questionable tubes, its origin, specs etc. Some tubes are missing markings or other obvious characteristics. Some are re-branded. Most European symbols differ from those made in U.S. There are many experienced tube-o-philes among us to answer some of those questions. I hope this thread is within the circle's guidelines, if not please move it to more appropriate place.

To start things off, I would like to get some wisdom on ID-ing these 300B tubes that came with this amp?
(no markings of any kind)

Can you tell which 300b is it or better pics will be necessary?

Thanks in advance

I try to ID this tube for a while and it looks like inexpensive copy of Western Electric 300b - Shuguang 300B for $189 a pair. Anyone have any experiance with those tubes?
I am looking for worthy replacements/spares (2 pairs) under $500. Any suggestions?

On Audioasylum Tube section there is a quad of Sophia Princess for 3 bills.  I had a pair of them in my Welborne Laurels and was impressed until I bought a pair of Sophia black carbon plates which took them up to the next level.  Check around and I think you'll find most folks like the Sophia's for the $$.
