I don't know them name-by-name, but wifey plays them a lot. I think they sound fabulous. Very transparent, allows you to hear waaay back in the mix.

As a hack drummer, I especially like the way the drums are recorded, the snare especially. It's rare that the "rinnggg" of the drums gets captured like that.  And the cymbol decay - Count it - 10-12 seconds sometimes. OK I'll stop, but I really appreciate the naturalness/honesty of the drum sound  :thumb:

Which release is that, Mike?  Thanks.

Jack Johnson CD's what do you think of the recording quality?

I have not heard his music other than on a music video but plan to check them out.  There was a great related story posted by the maker of Xtreme cables (?), the silver/gold contact enhancer and some cables.  He posted a music review on Amazon and was raving (to paraphrase) about the sound quality and how great it was someone was actually paying attention and putting out a great sounding recording.  The album producer read the rave review and got in contact with him and went to listen to his audiophile system.  Apparently he and JJ are fringe audiophiles also.  Cool story.

I've got two and they both sound superb on my systems. No muddiness or overly hot upper end here. The music is excellent as well IMHO.

I am a big Jack Johnson fan and had the pleasure of seeing him live a couple of summers ago and Donovan Frankenreiter opened for him.

My wife took me to that show as a birthday present.  We had a blast.  I am also now a big Donovan Frankenreiter fan.

I have all of his recordings and the first 3 on vinyl also.

I like that Sleep Through The Static was recorded off the grid on solar power and I believe they used analog equipment in the process.   :o

I think his first three albums were significantly better music wise than the last two.  I really like the recording quality on this latest one.  The music on this last one has grown on me but it is not close to his best work Brushfire Fairytales.

Just my opinion.

I found the email news letter from Brian Kyle telling the story mentioned previously.

A Highly Recommended Reference Musical Recording!!!
My Robert Carranza/Jack Johnson Experience · Chapter 1

Many of you already know that I am a Jack Johnson junkie ...
as IMO his rhythmic, easy listening music and awesome
recording quality are unequaled!!! His new highly successful
album titled "Sleep Though the Static" (over 3 million sold in
only eight weeks) was even more amazing... especially with
regards to Robert Carranza's eXceptional analog recording
expertise... even sounding significantly better than his previous
very well recorded personal favorite Jack Johnson album "In
Between Dreams".
I purchased this CD off Amazon for $9.99... and proceeded to
write an Amazon review with the title "Phenomenal
Recording and Content... and Audiophile MUST HAVE!!!".
BTW: These two titles are also available on vinyl.
About 4 days later, an interesting thing took place that most audiophiles would surely
appreciate...

Additional long story version info…
After coming out of shock and giving him the third degree... then checking my caller ID upon his
suggestion... we talked for awhile. It turns out that Robert is also an audiophile... and had really tried
hard to improve the quality of this analog tape performance... and was appreciative that other
audiophiles like myself took notice.

It gets even better... as Robert took the time to drive from Los Angeles to my house for a visit...
as I thought to myself how awesome it would be to have this outstanding recording engineer
critique my audio system... as he is the "absolute truth" with respect to how my system sounds
compared to what he intended. Suffice to say that he gave it very high marks... which made me feel
awesome... knowing that I'm moving forward on the right track!!! He even felt that my Xionic Tourmo
Gun prototype added a significant amount of "naturalness" to the musical presentation.
I definitely feel blessed, humbled and shocked... all at the same time!!! I dream about some day meeting
Jack... perhaps sipping on a Pina Colada in Hawaii with him at his house (Not too likely... but I guess I can
always dream). I might add that this eXceptional experience couldn't have happened to a more enthusiastic
Jack Johnson fan.

Next up... a visit to Robert's Solar Powered Plastic Plant recording studio in LA. Stay tuned... as
an update will follow in our next Xtreme Cables/Xtreme AV newsletter.
In the meantime... you should pick up the above TWO well recorded Jack Johnson CDs or LPs...
and simply kick back and Enjoy the Music!!!
