SP1.7 doesn't respond to remote
« on: 20 Dec 2007, 10:49 am »
I recently had my SP1.7 repaired by PMC as the LCD panel failed, at the same time I asked them to investigate the odd instance when the unit would simply stop responding to the remote, however using the buttons still worked, and switching to standby and back on worked.

PMC couldn't reproduce this problem which wasn't that surprising since it was only happening to me once a week or so; however it has recently started getting worse i.e. now it can be once or twice a day, but very variable, it generally seems to be if it hasn't actually been used for a couple of hours (I often leave the unit on if I know it's going to be used an hour or two later0 it never stops working when in use.

Anyone any ideas or is it a matter of waiting for it to get a lot worse before returning.

Thanks

Hi,

When it is not working is the red LED on the front of the SP1.7 responding (flashing)?

Also what software version are you running?

I'll have to check firmware later but 1.44f rings a bell with me.

The LED doesn't flash, and interestingly changing the volume or selecting another input doesn't activate the LCD display.

Mine does the same thing!
It is an SP 1.7, software is:
SP1.7
OS v44D1
v1.04x

What is the fix?

Thanks,
Chris

It sounds like it may be the software has been corrupted by spikes/noise etc. on the power line. I had one customer that was having similar issues and once he installed the Torus the problems ceased.
Check with Mike Pickett at Bryston as he knows the ins and outs of the SP1.7 better than I.
