Bugle PS with Hagclock?
« on: 13 Feb 2009, 04:03 pm »
Hi

I am in the process of planning a build of the Hagclock and wanted to power it with a dedicated PS. I noticed that a forum member successfully used the bugle PS. Are there any considerations  in using these together in terms of component choice / values. What is the supply requirement of the Hagclock?

Digikey do not have 2N5486GOS and have suggested J310GOS-ND as an alternative. Is this suitable?

Thanks
Rich

Actually, you don't need much for a HAGCLOCK power supply.  The trick is that it has its own!  There are filters and two special low noise regulators onboard.  In fact, half the circuitry on the clock board is not even clock.  That's why it works so well - the combination of dedicated supply and sinewave oscillator.

Hey Jim, I was wondering if the hag clock could also be used as a reference signal. I have two frequency counters and some other bench test equipment that need to be calibrated.

Thanks.

Sure can, but the HAGCLOCK needs to be calibrated itself first.  But then it'll track only at a certain temperature.  It was not designed for absolute frequency accuracy, it was designed for low phase noise (which is what we need in audio).
