TJ Full Music 300B/SE Review - Enjoy the Music
« on: 31 Dec 2008, 06:41 am »
Basically confirming what our ears and our customers are telling us, the TJ Full Music 300B/SE is an improvement on or at least a replacement for the WE 300B.

We've sold out again of the SE and are taking pre-orders, next shipment should be available in about a week.

"Possibly I prefer the TJ-SE to the Western Electric in part because of its resemblance to the 211 in its ability to clarify texture, catch and release attacks, and maintain order in the harmonic structure, which is absolutely necessary to both accurately reproduce timbres and propel the bass line, without which the melody has nothing to hang onto."

Ian,

Lots of interesting choices for 300Bs between these and the Shuguang anniversary series.  Any comments on how the sonics may differ between them?

I'll eventually be looking for something to use in my Wright Mono 7s.

Thanks,

Jim

Hi Jim,

I received the Shuguangs Treasure Series today and will start getting some time on them over the next few days. The TJ SE's keep selling out, we received stock today and there are a few pairs left, most already being spoken for. Should be lots of fun testing them out over the next week or so, will keep you informed.

If you want to do some testing we are offering a small discount to those that will post their finding in the forums, there isn't much profit in these, more of a customer service thing and I get lots of new tubes to play with :)

Re the TJ 300B's, the Mesh Plate (300B/n) has a really sweet top end with lots of air, great bottom end detail, the TJ 300B/n/c Standard Carbon Plate is a more accurate 300B tube that is an excellent replacement for those just looking for new tubes or a second set for their NOS WE's (keep the WE's for serious listening), The SE's are just amazing sounding, they do everything better over any 300B tube I have heard and IMO you can sell your NOS WE's :)

The Black Bottle Shuguang 300B-Z looks very interesting, it is a mesh plate, will be firing it up later today.

We met the designers and managers last month of both TJ and Shuguang, what is cool is that they are always working on new designs, which take about 3 years before they are officially released. The great news is I think they have already or will surpase the NOS fav's in sound and quality and these tubes will be readily available in quantity soon.

Cheers,
Ian
