Some Classical Vinyl
« on: 19 Dec 2008, 12:46 am »
Hi All,
I am looking for some good recordings of Beethoven (5th, 9th, Fur Elise, Moonlight Sonata), and I was wondering if you had any suggestions? It would preferably be 12" 33RPM, but CDs are okay as well. Also Bach (Minuet in G).

Also, if you feel there are any other classical records you just have to recommend, please feel welcome to. I am trying to grow my classical record collection, so all suggestions are helpful.

Thanks

-West

Give me a PM Whubbard with your address.  I will send you a Christmas gift.  I got an extra set of Toscanini's Beethoven Symphonies with NBC Symphony Orchestra.  The side walls on the box are crushed but all the LP's are in descent shape.

Beethoven's complete works - 85 CDs for $125.99, you can't go wrong.

In an effort to discover classical music I bought the complete works of... Bach - 155 CDs & Mozart - 170 CDs.   Both were similarly priced to Beethoven's complete works.

I like Aaron Copland's stuff. Very dynamic. Available on Telarc CD and on Columbia Records. "Songs for the Americas" is very good with tunes like Billy the Kid, stuff like that. I also like Pictures at an Exhibition by Mussorgsky.
