As I said in my "flame" post I chose Ekornes.  However, I need to reiterate that a major aspect of my listening is hirez multichannel surround sound.  I have a lot invested in equaivalent speakers for 5.1 (and addtl ones for 7.1) and I needed a chair that would allow me to listen to music that eminated from somewhat behind me.  A tall back was completely out of the question, as it also affects 2 channel listening to some extent (like having a wall right behind your sweetspot).  The Ekornes i chose was perfect: it has an adjustable headrest that is quite low and integrated into the look of the chair when in the down position (shoulder level), but can be raised quite a bit if i feel like taking a nap, etc.

I too have the same chair as Ted's and I can't recommend it enough. It's lightyears ahead of all the recliners I've had and I chose this chair for the same reasons as Ted. I was tired having to raise the volumes to unrealistic levels just to make to for a huge recliner. Now I have a much more natural surround system that reflects what a concert hall should sound like,,,, all thanks to that adjustable headrest.

    Okay, what particular model of the Ekornes Chair, and where is the best (read cheapest) place to buy one?

The model I use is the Vegas, which is the name of the largest version of that style (small/medium/large equals Tampa/Reno/Vegas).  Not all styles feature the built in "hidden" headrest feature that is so important in my setup.  I've never seen Ekornes discounted online or anywhere but authorized dealers.  You might find a used one on Craigs List or Ebay, but watch out for the obvious (knockoffs, damage,e tc.)  Ekornes looks like they have a corp-wide $200 off holiday sale right now.

Mine is the Vegas, which is the larger size in that model. They have a smaller chair in this model but using a differnt name. There must be a dozen or so different models and are all sold by regional dealers. Ekornes is very territorial with their dealers so your local dealer will be the only place you'll be able to buy a new chair. Ekornes are expensive and are shipped on boat from I think Sweden. Unlesss they have the chair of choice in their US storage, it's a few months wait.There are 3 grades of leather to choose from. I chose the most expensive as it was the most thickest and has the msot imperfections in it. The texture reminds me somewhat of a basketball, a used basketball that is. I got an attached swinging computer keyboard table with mine. Best place to look at the different models is at their interective website where you can mix and match different color choices in each of the 3 grades of leather along with the different wood base choices. Not all models have headrests that are up/down adjustable!
