I would agree with this.  I think we should make a gentleman's bet, kind of like that Seinfeld episode where...well if you've seen it you've seen it.  In any case, I propose an honor system, whoever can go the longest without adding something or changing something in their system.  Of course, I'm saying this after I just bought a new amp...

Resolutions.... I've got so many projects, I'm not sure where to start.

- finish my Epiphany external crossovers
- finish the restoration of my HH Scott 299
- finish building my tubed phono stage
- build new bass cabinets for my 15" Altec 416s
- build new power cords for my system
- build a new stand/equipment rack for my 65" Mits/Integra 9.8/Oppo/DTV
- build my DIY balanced power conditioner with extra filtering for my HT
- Build and install my remote volume control for my pre's (2)
- stop working so damned much so I can actually enjoy all my toys

...got more but I'll stop there

Preamp, amp and speakers have been in place for 3+ years. Finished up power conditioning thing last year. Cable skeptic to a certain degree so I don't change them out. Did just buy a new source a couple of months ago though . Don't really need anything for my system and if I start to think that I do I manage to talk myself out of it .

Sorry, I just have to razz you a bit, only because I happened across your 2008 resolution the other day, in which you said essentially the same thing as this year, but also recall a fairly long thread about a search for an integrated amp .

Of course most of us are guilty of the same things, but we don't often document it as well .

I think Art has the has the right idea -- no promises, no dissapointments.

For my part, at this time last year I thought I had found the end of the trail.  Suffice it to say that I have absolutely nothing left from either of my systems except for a pair or two of interconnects, and I've gone from SS, multi-way speakers to single-ended tube amplification and single driver speakers exclusively -- in effect, coming full circle to some 5 years ago.  I *think* I'm here to stay now.

Well, I do not know where to start...........I know that some of my projects will finally see the light and some won't but there it is:

1. Finish my SD and omni-directional speakers projects (Sachiko is almost finish. Then, I will pull my hair over the omnis)
2. Scott 299b restoration/modification
3. Have my listening room tweaked for best acoustic response.
4. Limit my audio related spending.
5. Concentrate on analog and polish all the corners in that department.
6. RMAF
7. Expose simplistic approach to "Audio Nirvan".

basically a couple of things :

1. Get some gear repaired ( Soundcraftsmen amp & Scott Nixon dac )
2. Tweak the sound in my newly acquired man cave ( spare bedroom )

1). Getting off the gear merry-go-round and listen to much more music.

2). Finish ripping the collection to the server.

3). Unload all my vinyl, open reel decks, and vintage Marantz quad receiver, which will finish off cleaning out the audio closet.

4). Only one major project at a time, and only ones I can afford to finish -- most likely a really good DHT SET.

5). build various cables and finish tweaking existing gear.

6).  Explore more headphone listening.

I've actually made really good progress on all this in the past year and truly am enjoying far more music than in the past.

Deep listening has become a very therapeutic thing for me, and my man-cave has become a real pleasure to spend listening time in.

One thing is pretty clear to me now, I really do love the intimacy and emotional connection with the music that good SET/Single-driver systems can deliver.  At this time last year I was pretty far from that, and now that's all I have for both systems.
