New Arrays for Texas and Canada

Two lower cost designs shipping next week, one kit to Texas and the other to Canada. The Texas arrays are like the Symmetrica except they have thirty-two Peerless woofers and eight BG Neo8PDR planars. The "128" array is a single line of twelve HiVi 4" woofers and eight Dayton PT2C planars.

I have never had the pleasure of hearing a speaker of yours, and would look to leverage any locals...

mcgsxr,

Nope, sorry these ones are for me in Alberta

I'm a lucky guy, this is my second set of Selah arrays.

I was/am going to use these as surrounds on my HT. The Symmetricas are in front.

Problem is that since I received the Syms I find myself listening to music 50 times more

than I use to :D :D :D  Although i have nice HT gear (Sunfire) I decided that

I would give tubes a go, the Syms I think will go upstairs with my new Grant Fidelity amp

and Raysonic CDP as a dedicated 2ch system.

When I get the 128s assembled and give them a listen, I will more than likely

order a couple more and run four of the same array for my HT...Arrays are sweet for HT

I have the Selah Sardonyx as a center already.

ME: 8)    MY WIFE; :nono:    MY FRIENDS :o

Like I said I'm a lucky guy!

Suddenly I understand why the weather always blows in from the West, it is your LINE ARRAYS that send the Alberta clippers into ON!

Nice system, good for you.

I will impose on you if I ever get out to the Stampede!

Do you mind me asking but where in Alberta are you located and would you be at any point open to having one or more people come over for a listen/audition. I've mused about getting a pair of speakers from Rick for about 2 years and am kicking myself for not getting a pair when the dollar was at par, but if the in person audition is as good as everyone is stating that would seal the deal for me in the new year. So, please let us know where in AB you're located.

Thanks,

Bubba67 in Edmonton.

Hi Bubba,

Your in luck, kinda. I live about 30 mins outside of Edmonton.
I work up in Ft.Mac, about 21 or so days at a time. When I'm back its for a short spell, and most of the time I'm pretty busy, we raise and show Arabian horses and live in the country.
I discussed this with my wife and she said......well, lets just say we talked about strange people...named Bubba :o...from the internet comming over then me leaving for extended times......my mental health was questioned :nono:

That being said, I am done my project in about mid March, and I start a new one in Scottsford. I wouldn't have a problem with perhaps meeting for a coffee/beer and discussing it then. Hope this works for you.

Perry,

Thanks for the offer. Mid March sounds just about perfect timing - hopefully by then the market issues will settle and we'll have some recovery. Please tell your wife not to worry and that the "internet Bubba" is a local Edmonton physician and my wife assures me that I am not crazy.

Perhaps some other local audiophiles may visit at this time so you wouldn't have to volunteer your time at separate times - please consider

Rick, is the Canadian kit coming to the province of Ontario?

I have never had the pleasure of hearing a speaker of yours, and would look to leverage any locals...

I'm the very happy owner of a pair of Rick's Linus III's and I'm about an hour east of you.

Very nice, just wondering why you had your tweeters on the inside rather than on the outside? I've always read it's best to put them on the outside.

The orientation depends on a few different factors - room, distance between the speakers, the radiation pattern of the array, and listener preference. There's not really a "right" or "wrong" way to postion the array so I always suggest that the owner experiment. This is one reason why I designed the Symmetrica so that the output is identical on either side of the speaker.

I'll also note that a lower crossover point won't change anything as has been suggested by another designer. As long as you have a single line of woofers there will be a difference in the radiation from the left to right side. This is due to the lobe of the crossover (which still is present at lower crossover points), delay times between the lines, and diffraction effects from the front baffle.
