Hello I spoke w Frank today and ordered an Insight amp, he was very helpful, Does anyone have any reviews of this amp running from a tube pre? I like the Preamp Tube SS Amp setup, just wondering how this will perform with this amp or possibly a previos SS model if there are no reviews of the Insight model?

I think you will like the combination. I have the Insight 260ex. It is very fast and dynamic. It seems to be very happy with whatever you have to drive it. I have the Insight EC preamp powering mine and there certainly is a synergy between the 2 SS components. They are made for each other.

Your tube preamp will give the sound its tube signature, if that is what your lookiing for, and the Insight amp will make your speakers behave and produce music very pleasing to listen to. I'm sure you will enjoy your new amp.

Thanks, can you clarify a much debated issue? If the amp does not add anything to the sound, just amplifying the signal from the preamp why do some claim there is a loss of  "tubiness" when going down the chain from a tube preamp to a solid state amp. In other words, some claim in order to get the holographic effect, 3D soundstage etc an all tube amp is needed with a tube preamp.
