George, the sub is that black blob on the far right next to the Odyssey amps. It's a rather crummy Mirage Bps-150i that I bought on a whim. It's what I want to replace. W/ two 8" push/pull drivers, it just can't energize that much space.

Bob, thanks for the compliment on the equipment rack. It's a DIY Flexi. As far as the lamp, it was from some 'art' project  a few years ago. I'm really suprised at how few visitors to the studio even notice it, as it is rather unique.

Yeah, I'm really leaning toward Danny's OB version of the Rythmik. I guess the only question now is to use his plan, or to build a couple of H-frames. Any thoughts?

I've gotta get some GIK panels too. As you can probably guess, this room is one big echo chamber.

Woops!

I confused you with Eargasm...which is why I was asking for sub pictures.  I am interested in seeing the "W" frame subs.

Sorry about that.

I can't say much for Danny's speakers as I've not heard them. But I can tell you I'm sold on what a pair of 15" Augies can do. They provide me with extremely clean, clear bass. What sold me on them is the ability to differentiate between different types of drums in the same song. "KODO" comes to mind.  aa

You're right, it does looks like you're in need of some room treatments. (Me too).

Bob

p.s. I also noticed the lamp is the same color as the guitar. I figured there was a corelation.

Bob, you are one observant fellow! I hope you didn't notice I needed to vacuum the carpet, brush the cat and put away the Cd's, etc.

Frankly, the color of the lamp matching the guitar is just a coincidence, I just happened to have that color bulb on hand. It was red for a long time. The Strat normally doesn't sit out. It was my one concession to the photo. Normally it would be my crappy old navy blue Carvin, which is my practice guitar.

Does anyone have an opinion on the style of OB posted by Rich vs. 2 H-frames? From what I've read distributed subs load the room better. But then again, maybe w/ OB's this point becomes less of an issue.

I think the W frame is more for the purpose of reducing the size for multiple drivers. It should sound about the same as H Frame.

There are some white papers about multiple subs and sub placement on Harmon Int'l wesbite.
http://www.harman.com/about_harman/technology_leadership.aspx

Dipoles will require placement some distance from the wall behind it, but they can sound clearer, and easier to place in the room acoustic. But they will not play as low as a sealed or ported design due to baffle step. That's why most OB designs have 2 or three drivers to equal the output of a sealed or ported sub at very low frequencies. Electronic equalization with boost in the lowest freqs is the easiest wtg for OB bass.
