Help! Oscillating 4-1/2" drivers
« on: 16 Mar 2009, 01:22 am »
I was reconnecting my left speaker (Hemp Bipoles) and I slightly shorted the terminals. Now the cones are constantly  oscillating but the sound quality is still normal. :dunno: Are my drivers shot? How can I stop the oscillating drivers? The right channel drivers are operating normally. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Don't think your driver got damaged, maybe something happened in your amp. Have you tried switching the left cable to the right speaker and visa versa?

Yeah, I already tried that. I'll try again. Maybe I got mixed up.  :duh:

Thanks,

Whew ...... I turned the amp off for awhile and readjusted the DC offset, which was very close to negligible anyway, turned it back on and now everything is back to normal. I don't know exactly what the problem was but whatever it was was transitory in nature :thumb:.

From now on I'll follow basic rules. :rules: Turn the amp off before messing with the speaker cables. :duh:
