Itunes?
« on: 11 Oct 2008, 01:50 pm »
I have an Iphone and a Ipod, is there anyway way that I can configure my Itunes software to accept both?  Every time I plug in the Ipod it Itunes wants to erase  and add the new songs that I have on my iphone, when I put on the iphone it wants to do the same thing it did with the Ipod.  What the hell is wrong with the Apple/Mac people if someone has multiple Ipod's or Iphones they cant use it?  Am I allow only to use just "1" device?

When you dock your iPhone, look under "Music" and only check the playlists that you want it to sync with.  My wife has her own playlists and she sync them to her iPod and my playlist only goes to my iPhone.  I think playlists are the way to get around this.

Make sure each device syncs from a different playlist, and disable automatic syncing.

Yes. To make a new playlist, click on File > New Playlist, then name it iPhone. Plug in your iPhone, click on 'iPhone under 'Devices', deselect automatic sync. Click on the music tab and select the iPhone playlist you just created while deselecting all other playlists. Now click on Music under Library and drag tunes from your library over to the new playlist. Click on iPhone again under Devices, and click Sync.

Repeat above for your iPod.

As far as iTunes being a pita, you'll find the opposite is true if you spend just a fraction of the time with it compared to other similar applications..
