Pilot 402 int. amp & Garrard RC-2- is it worth it ?

I found this entertainment console by Pilot.
Some vintage tubes caught my interest but then I end up disassembling the whole thing.
Eventually I took the amp, TT and something called FM Multiplexer.

So my question is - is it worth my time to get this thing cleaned up and in case of some needed repairs, invest some money?

It came with all papers, schematics etc...

Any thoughts will be appreciated.
Thanks for your input in advance.

the pilot 408 is a receiver, no?  the multiplexer allows you to receive stereo broadcasts from the mono fm tuna, thru its mpx output.

pilot gear is absolutely excellent, imo - their amps, preamps & tunas inside their receivers are highly rated amongst wintage enthusiasts as amongst the best sounding gear awailable, as are their separates.  query a/c member whitese about it.  i am listening to a mint fa-680 fm tuna as i am typing this; its sound is absolutely superb, as is the sound of the pilot 580 tuna i also own.   :green:  the fa-680 looks yust like the one in this pic of whitese's former pilot gear, but w/o the fancy wood cabinet:

there's also a yahoo forum dewoted to pilot gear, ( http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Pilotone/ ), as well as lotsa info about it over at audio asylum and audiokarma...

hth,

ps - i have a pilot 660 tuna w/non-working meter that should also sound excellent, as it's similar in construction to the 580 & 680; i am willing to give it to anyone who is willing to pay for its shipping.  i bought it only to scavenge its meter to replace the non-working meter in my 680.

Thanks for the info doug s.
You are correct about 402  being a stereo receiver. I believe it is rated at 30wpc.(4 X el84)
It does not have a fancy case as it was a part of "all in one" console but that isn't a problem.
I will have it cleaned up & power it up tomorrow. Just wonder if it even works.

Garrard RC-2 is an inexpensive record changer with number of cheap plastic parts and inferior arm and cart combination (which is of no use anyway) but it might be a fan project for my daughter and I.
She digs TTs and this being an 8LP changer will surely catch her interest.  (Vintage iPod)

I might have someone interested in your radio (if it works). Hold it for few days. I will have the guy contact you (he is an AC member too)

mariusz, four el84's indicate ~15wpc, not 30.  but el84 amps are sweet!

i have no treason to think the pilot 660 tuna doesn't work, as the seller said it worked fine.  while i haven't actially hooked it up to my system, (easy enough to do), the tuning meter, (which is now in my 680, w/its meter now in the 660), did respond as it should when i was tuning it to warious stations...
