Wow... you must have spent a lot of time pecking at the keyboard with that response!   :D

For those who don't know, Terry is one of my local buddies and I happen to know that his typing skills are limited to "hunt & peck".

Kevin,

Wow, that sounds like my perfect tweeter! Unfortunately, unless I win the lottery (not likely as I don't play), the price is way out of my league. But hey, it does seem like a 'best of the best' type driver, and those don't ever come cheap. I'm sure it's worth every penny, for those who want the best. Maybe someday I'll get a chance to hear them.

Cheers!

Some small updates on the tweeter.   The horn is pretty much the same, I changed the phase plug mounting for a different cosmetic look.   We also have nixed the CuBe dome.    We have a composite dome that matches it in performance and gains a good 2dB of output due to the lighter mass.    Otherwise... we soldier on.

Kevin,

I really like this one, I'm impressed. How thick is the flange at the edges by the mounting bolt holes and what will be the overall diameter?
Looks like an attractive unit with the potential for good off-axis response, I can hardly wait to hear one.

Best Regards,
TerryO

Looking Good Kevin, I like the idea of a dome tweeter with a wave guide designed just for it.

Here, I updated the drawing by assembling the rear-cup.    This gives you a better idea of what the full assembly would look like.    This is by no means complete.   I've not modeled the dome or suspension components because I don't need to tool them.   The rear cup will have wires & PCB on the rear also which isn't shown in the model.

The overall diameter is 5.25", and the mounting depth is 1/4" so the unit is pretty beefy.   I have yet to determine the finish but it will probably be black and the dome a dark gray.   The groove in the rear is for an o-ring that seals it to the cabinet.

Hey, any news on this tweeter?

No new news.

It is part of the new Exodus loudspeaker range.    The tweeter design is done and prototyped.   Right now I'm waiting on tooling work that is being done on a suspension for the midwoofer and the resulting Klippel testing.    Also, cabinets are being prototyped and quoted.    I probably won't have product until summer.
