Dude to playing with my friends old Adcom 575 player with a 1541a DAC in it I am considering an external DAC, and digital enthusiasts mods by Bolder, funded by selling all my vinyl stuff (I do not use it enough, someone else could be enjoying it).
The 1541a blows the SB3 DAC away, even with BG capacitors all over the analog side, bypassed by Sonicap Gen2s, massive "Felix" filtering, and switching/linear PSU. It is so much smoother, more clear imaging, etc... It just gives an overall more pleasant to listen to, than interesting stuff happening, experience. The imaging and some impact, attack and decay, on the SB3 can be better but I suspect that is the 575's weaker output componets.
I have heard a 1543 and enjoyed it. I made one for a friend and liked it. I was looking at Peter Daniels fancy kit. Hifi DIY has some 1541a kits. Scott Nixon has some cool 1543 kits... Then I once happen to see a kit that stacks like 48 1543 or something like that, forget the website. However maybe there are other things out there? Which ones shine in what respects? I was hoping someone here might have a few things to say.
Thanks.
