Catalog Program Recommendations
« on: 27 Aug 2008, 09:53 pm »
I presently am up to 1,632 Cds with some 22,000 tracks (420 gig) recorded on my hard drive as flac files. I am looking for a catalog program to help me keep track of things without losing my sanity. As an example, I understand there are catalog programs which enter data by use of a bar code reader to scan the code from Cd covers.  There also may be other approaches. What recommendations would you make for the management of my library?

Hi Paul,

I've been using Collectorz cd software for some time now, works great!  At first the bar scanner was handy as I was loading ~2000 cds but, it's much faster to simply type in the bar code when adding just a few at a time.

Now that most everything is converted to flac using dbpower onto hdd's I don't see much use for it though, everything is neatly sorted by artist/album(s)/songs right on the discs and or Foobar.

ReaderWare sells a music catalog package that includes a bar code reader. They also sell catalog software for books and video.
