The title sums it up. I have a Tivo HD downstairs that I'd like to be able to access on the kitchen TV, and in the future, another flat screen that will be added in the living room. I prefer to not run wires as it would be very difficult. Also prefer to stick with the single Tivo rather than multiple units to keep content in one place. The Slingbox pro HD looks promising would also need to use their powerline network access points. Feedback or other ideas is appreciated!

To answer my own question in part :)  Apparently the Slingcatcher is what I'd need with a Slingbox HD. The Slingcatcher is just out, and lots of complaints and issues so far. Also, everyone is saying it is too high in price and should drop significantly in the coming months as well has have bugs fixed. So, I'll probably wait a couple months. Darn, my wife would be VERY happy if I could get the Tivo up into the kitchen sooner than latter!

mike,

some cable companies offer the feature now of inter-networked cable box dvr's...so you can actually start a recorded program in one room and even finish it in another.  this is dependent upon local availability, but i know fios offers this feature in more than a few areas.

traditionally, the way what you're asking for is done with hard-wired distribution and component video switching matrix throughout the home.  it's a great way to reduce the number of tivo's and cable boxes required within the home...but certainly a very expensive way to go.

please follow-up when you've decided on/implemented a solution.

best,

Thanks JP. I know that doing a wired system would make a lot of sense. The thing is, we bought this house brand new last year and it is PERFECT except for lack of pre-wiring. I know I could hire a good installer to run the cables, just want to avoid the hassles if possible and do it wireless. The Sling approach looks good, but apparently the Slingcatcher is brand new, has performance bugs, HD is iffy, and the price is likely to come way down in a few months. I might just need to wait.

Here's a review of the Slimcatcher.

Thanks Joe . . .

The review brought up something I didn't know and probably wouldn't want to live with. I should just bite the bullet, run the right cables, and be done with it.
