FS: Dayton / BASH 500 Sub
« on: 18 Apr 2008, 07:24 am »
Built from Baltic Birch (17.5" x 17.5" x 30".) The box is slightly undersized and sealed. The LF Boost of the BASH amp is utilized. Uses two 12" Dayton HF 8 ohm drivers.

In a seperate chamber is a 500W BASH plate amp.

Project is about 2 months old. Reason for selling: these drivers are unshielded and the ONLY place I can locate the sub is right behind my widescreen CRT. Needless to say, the two don't get along very well. (D'oh!!!) Going to start all over again with a shielded driver(s).

$400

Located in Tucson, AZ

Any pics?  Do you have any idea of the shipping weight?  And how would this sub be in a system used 70% for music/30% for movies?

I've got one picture. I'll see if I can figure out how to attach it to this post. No idea what shipping weight is. I think the sub is great, and unless you've got a GINORMOUSroom, it would barely be breaking a sweat. I've got it tuned (with the bass boost in the amp) for movies primarly. It would just take me a few minutes to swap a couple of resistors in the amp to flatten out the response to make it amenable to music and movies. BTW, the sub is painted with Duratex http://www.acrytech.com/store.asp?pid=14119

Actually, if you email me (dsrviola at yahoo dot com), I'll send you photos since I can't figure out how to post an image.

P.S. you're not likely to find sheilded sub drivers.  Not many or any exist that I know of.

My bad. The ones in my main system are NOT shielded. (They're two of the 12" Rythmik Servo sub kits) However, when I used them behind my CRT, I didn't have any trouble withthe picture. I just got off the phone with Rythmik, and he said the stray field on the 12" driver is a lot more focused than the 15". So much for my plans for using the 15" in my HT set up. (sigh)

ANYWAY.....the Dayton sub is now sold.

Cheers
