Transporter power switch

Kindof a silly question, but anyway...

On all my Squeezebox-type things the power does little or nothing - just changes the display, really.  What does the power button on the MWTP do?  Does it turn the valves on/off?  I'd rather not have them on 24/7 if I do get one.

There is a separate toggle switch for the tube output section on the back.

The power button on the front (and remote) just turns off the digital side of the Transporter, and sets it in a standby mode.....it does not power on/off the tubes though.  The tube section is powered by a small custom toggle switch on the back of the unit.

Edit: Jerry beat me by a few seconds, sorry.

Great - so you can still have the clock and weather going while it's off, and the valves aren't on.  Groovy.

Shazaam, an idea.   aa

With my MWI TP in a cabinet, it is kind of a p.i.t.a. to squat and fish around for the power switch in back.  Plus, when turning it off, the little glowing bottles are hot to the touch and reaching over them takes some finesse in my situation.

What about an option to have it turn on via a 12 v trigger, sim. to some amplifiers.  This would necessitate a 12v trigger option to my LS 36.5 also, but I'm a big fan of that feature anyway.  I love flipping the preamp on and the amps turn on with it.

Anyone else find this possibly appealing?

How about putting the switch on top?

Would ruin the case cosmetics in my opinion.

I have yet to ever see a tube stage that could be powered up and down via a 12v trigger  :?

Personally seems like the trigger would be a lot of re-enginering that Dan would have to do for questionable gain (trigger idea, that is, not simply moving switch)  Easy for me to say; I can get to the switch easily.   :)   What about a small umbilical or miniplug that allows for placement of switch anywhere on rack?  Dunno...

It may be possible to use the logic for the front panel power to the Transporter to control a simultaneous relay for the tube power.  I haven't had time to investigate it fully.

Thanks,

Dan
