Bought mine a few months ago for a couple of hundred less than your auction's starting price.

You got a sweet deal.  :P  I paid $1250 for mine and have had it for only a month.  The starting price is set for me to get my investment back. If no one bids, I have 3 smaller offers and will sell at a loss.

Yes, seems I got a real bargain.  It's a classic little amp IMO.
