Ok I'm curious which one of these takes the better picture the Nikon d40 or the Panasonic DMC-LX2 There is about $125 difference in price.

Horses for courses... :) I like this camera, it's fun to use and has lots of adjustments so I can fiddle with exposure settings. And the 16:9 aspect (including rear LCD) is unique and (I think) cool. But there's no way I would trade in my SLR for it ;)

ecramer, see my other post on out-of-the-box color for some comparison shots...

Here's another shot from the LX2, from earlier today. Again processed in RAW.

Sunset at Taylor's Wharf

I never really thought about it before, but maybe compacts (and SLRs with "live view") are better for taking pictures of sunsets - I don't think I would have tried this shot looking through the lens of an SLR.

Lovely shots! There is something magic about the color rendition of Leica lenses - it is vivid and vibrant, much like the warmth of tube amplifiers as an analogy!

Best Regards

Thanks JohnR for the comparison of the cameras. I likes the shots with the Nikon best but i really can not pinpoint the reason why
