Hello Jim....

Did you take the plunge Daddymicks?

Definitely an improvement on the one Lonewolfny linked to

Nope, the Denon is still being enjoyed in Rye, Chris. I don't think Ruth and Andy will be back to the UK until at least next year.

Of course Ruth is expecting their first child soon so perhaps if it is a boy Andy could invest in a Lego TT for him :thumb:

We were over briefly at the end of June and gave the Denon some welly. Fleetwood Mac in particular as we saw Stevie Nicks at the (Jones?) Beach Theatre 8)

Yikes - a hundred bucks :green:

And your still thinking about it :o

Seriously, if it hasn't been knocked about then $100is a a very low price. The link I gave describes the tone arm as 'universal' so possibly not the strongest part of the combo. I haven't downloaded the manual from Vinyl Engine but that will very likely give some extra info about it. Worth doing as the arm / cartridge compatability can be crucial.

Lots of recommendations in other threads here in the Vinyl Circle. A very popular in the last 18 months or so was the Audio Technica 440MLa but it has got expensive (used to be around $80 - Needle Doctor is now asking $199).

It should be possible to buy a reasonable cartridge to get going for under $100.

Do you need to budget for a phono stage or does your present amp have a phono input?

Where is every one around here?

Wayner, TCG, anyone?
